ScrapRight alternative: ScrapIT vs ScrapRight

This page is for scrap yards that run ScrapRight or iScrapRight and are deciding what to do now that ScrapRight is part of ReSpark, and for yards comparing the two systems for the first time.

ScrapIT is scrap yard management software from ScrapIT Software, formerly IYB Consultants and part of Quadshift. Scale ticketing, dispatch and container tracking, inventory, a pricing engine, reporting with Gizmo AI and compliance run in one platform, with 24/7 support from real people.28272620

Both systems are built for scrap yards. The table below shows what each vendor's own published material says, with a source and a date on every line.

ScrapRight is now part of ReSpark

  1. 30 September 2026

ReSpark announced it had completed its acquisition of ScrapRight, the scrap yard software company founded by Shon Duty. The release describes ScrapRight as serving recyclers for more than 20 years, with roughly 350 customers across more than 500 locations.34

  2. The buyer

ReSpark was formed in April 2026 from GreenSpark and ReMatter, added UptimePM in July 2026 as ReSparkPM, and says that with ScrapRight it serves roughly 1,000 customers across more than 1,700 locations.2

  3. What ReSpark told ScrapRight customers

"ScrapRight customers can continue accessing the platform they rely on today." ReSpark's page for ScrapRight customers also says the ScrapRight team, including members of the Duty family, has joined ReSpark and will keep supporting customers through the transition, and that existing ScrapRight contacts remain the customer's contacts.1

  4. Moving to ReSpark is presented as a choice

Asked whether a customer can move from ScrapRight to ReSpark, the page answers: "Yes. If you're interested in moving to the ReSpark platform, our team can help make the transition from ScrapRight as seamless as possible." No timeline, end-of-life date, pricing change or contract change is stated on that page.1

  5. A customer webinar

A live webinar about the acquisition was scheduled for Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 1:00 PM ET.1

  6. What we observed on 5 October 2026

scrapright.com and the former ScrapRight portal redirected to respark.com, while iscrapright.com was still running as its own product site with a sign-up form and a login and did not mention ReSpark.96

ScrapIT and ScrapRight at a glance

For ScrapIT, every cell links to the ScrapIT page that says it. For ScrapRight, a cell says what ScrapRight's or ReSpark's own material lists, "not listed on their site" with the date we checked, or "ask them" where only the vendor can answer. Because scrapright.com now redirects to ReSpark, most ScrapRight product detail comes from the iScrapRight site, which describes ScrapRight's app and cloud edition for scrap and CRV buyers, not the flagship product.

Where ScrapIT is the better fit

  • Support that answers.

ScrapIT support is 24/7 and staffed by people, not bots: "When you call, we answer." For yards whose scale opens before the office does.2021

  • Gizmo AI, the first AI analyst for scrap yards.

Ask a question in plain English and Gizmo builds the report; it also flags purchasing anomalies and volume changes before you notice them. For yards that want answers without building reports.1620

  • Compliance that is not only American.

LeadsOnline, NMVTIS and state police reporting in the United States; the Scrap Metal Act, GST/HST and Interac in Canada; the Secondhand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act, NZ Police dealer-record rules and 14-day copper retention in New Zealand; SafeWork Australia rules. For yards outside the US, or buying on both sides of a border.17222423

  • No per-ticket charges.

"No hidden fees. No surprise per-ticket charges." For yards whose ticket count would push them up a tier elsewhere.20

  • Dispatch is included.

ScrapIT Dispatch is free for ScrapIT Software users, with live bin tracking, a driver app that works offline and route optimization. For yards running roll-offs.1312

  • A pricing engine, not a price list.

Formulas against live market indices, tiered volume breaks, contract pricing, override limits and margin protection, with an audit trail. For yards that reprice when the market moves.14

  • Safety Data Sheets in the same system.

SDS management with an offline mobile app, for WorkSafe, OSHA HazCom, WHMIS or SafeWork. For yards with chemical and hazmat obligations.18

Where ScrapRight may be the better fit

  • Twenty years in US scrap yards.

ScrapRight has served many US recyclers for more than 20 years.36

  • A self-serve edition for small buyers.

iScrapRight is pitched at scrap and CRV buyers, publishes its plan prices, offers a 7-day free trial and says a yard can be running within minutes.6

  • If you wanted to move to ReSpark, it will likely be easier now.

ReSpark describes a roadmap backed by a larger team, and offers ScrapRight customers an optional, assisted path onto the ReSpark platform.1

  • A list of your scale-house hardware with model numbers.
  • The compliance reports you file, and the states or provinces you buy in.
  • The accounting system you reconcile to.

If you are moving roll-off scheduling as well, "Most yards are fully live within a weekβ€”including driver training."13

ScrapRight alternative FAQs

  • Is ScrapIT an alternative to ScrapRight?

Yes. ScrapIT covers scale ticketing, compliance reporting, inventory, dispatch, a pricing engine and reporting in one platform, with 24/7 support from real people, for yards in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere. ScrapRight customers can also stay where they are: ReSpark says they can keep using the platform they rely on today.

  • What happened to ScrapRight?

ReSpark announced on 30 September 2026 that it had acquired ScrapRight, adding roughly 350 customers and more than 500 locations to a company formed in April 2026 from GreenSpark and ReMatter. ReSpark says ScrapRight customers can keep using their platform, that the ScrapRight team has joined ReSpark, and that moving to ReSpark is optional. On 5 October 2026, scrapright.com redirected to respark.com. For dates, pricing or contract questions, ask ReSpark.

  • Can ScrapIT import my ScrapRight data?

Data migration is the first of ScrapIT's three onboarding steps: "We help move your history over." Send us what you can export (customers, materials, price lists, ticket history) and we will tell you what moves and how.

  • Does ScrapIT work with my scales, cameras and ID scanners?

ScrapIT connects scales, cameras, ID scanners and signature pads directly, with no manual entry, and fingerprint and driver's licence scanners are included in every package. Bring your model list to the demo and we will confirm each device.

  • Is iScrapRight the same as ScrapRight?

iScrapRight describes itself as an app and cloud edition built from the flagship ScrapRight product for scrap and CRV buyers, sold in tiers with monthly ticket allowances and paid add-ons. On 5 October 2026 its site did not mention ReSpark; what the acquisition means for iScrapRight is a question for them.

  • How is ScrapIT priced?

In three packages, Basic, Lite and Professional, quoted for your yard, with 24/7 support included in every plan. There are no hidden fees and no per-ticket charges. ScrapIT Dispatch is one flat monthly fee per yard with unlimited users, drivers and bins, and it is free for ScrapIT Software users.

  • Does ScrapIT support yards outside the United States?

Yes. ScrapIT is trusted by yards worldwide, with a significant presence in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, covering GST, GST/HST, Interac, PayPal, POLi and EFTPOS, and the compliance rules of each country.

  • What does it take to move scrap yard data from ScrapRight to a new system?

Start with what you can export and what you must keep for compliance. ScrapIT helps move your history over, new staff can master the scale screen in under 30 minutes, and yards moving roll-off scheduling are usually fully live on Dispatch within a week, including driver training. The full-suite timeline depends on your data and hardware, so ask us for one after the demo.
